You can go as a solo traveller if you wish. Always have your eyes open for anything. I’ve been a solo traveller to Barbados, Trinidad, even U.S.A., and I’m from Canada. If they don’t want to go, then that’s their loss, your gain, because you get to experience a new country.

    You should backpack.

Just save up a lot of money.
Get a visa. (maybe a working holiday one)
    And just go.

You need no other planning for the UK.

It’s small enough to get around easily.

    Lots of hostels floating around.

Oh and lots of travellers are solo. In the backpacking ‘scene’ people are exremely friendly. So i doubt you’d be alone for too long.

    Go for it.

I’m planning the same as you.
But not the UK – more Australia, Nz and USA. And Europe. And a few other places lol.
    I’m going alone.

http://www.gapyear.com is a really good site. Not so much for visiting the UK as most of them on there are people FROM the UK travelling elsewhere. But check it out. If you have the money there is nothing stopping you from travelling around Europe alone.

Just really, save save save, and off you go!

    Good luck

Traveling solo doesn’t have to be as bad as a lot of people might think it would be. I plan on going to Europe myself (most likely solo), and there’s a really great tour company that is specifically for 18-35 year olds. They take pairs, groups or single travellers and offer tours to not only Europe but Canada, the US, New Zealand and even Australia. The great thing about it though is that even if you’re alone, you’ll never be “alone”!

You should check out their website. They also have message boards so you can connect with travelers who are going to be on your tour before you even go (some which may already be in your area), which will make it a lot easier for you.

Good luck, and happy travels! = )
